When it takes effect

Immediately. The check runs at the moment a list is delivered, not when data is imported, so a list already prepared will drop you too.

How long it lasts

Permanently. There is no expiry and no re-consent prompt. The only way back in is to ask us.

What about buyers

Anyone who already bought a list carrying your details is told to honour an objection immediately, in writing, on every delivery.

Where we got your details

You are entitled to know this and we would rather say it here than make you ask. Business contact details in Tipwire come from a small number of named sources:

Companies House — the public register of UK companies: name, registered office, legal form, status, filing dates.
The Gazette — the official public record of insolvency and strike-off notices.
The Food Standards Agency — published food hygiene ratings.
The Care Quality Commission — the published register of registered locations, which includes their contact details.
OpenStreetMap — contributed business listings.
Your own website, where an address or number was published on a page. We record the exact page, and we can tell you which one.

We do not buy lists, and we do not use Land Registry ownership data, business rates, EPC records, planning portals or landlord registers — each of those carries a licence that forbids this use.

The rest of your rights

Removing yourself above deals with the thing most people actually want. If you would like more than that — a copy of what is held, a correction, or the reasoning behind our lawful basis — email hello@tipwire.co.uk and you will get a straight answer inside a month, which is the statutory limit rather than a target we set ourselves.

We process business contact details under legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR, and the balancing assessment behind that is written down rather than assumed. You can ask to see it. If you are a sole trader or an unincorporated partnership, PECR treats you as an individual subscriber and marketing email needs your consent — those records are blocked from the email channel entirely, not merely flagged. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, and you do not have to come to us first.
